Heroic song, Kapsabet Nandi district Kenya, Kenyan, Nandi, Tanui, Kiplakat Arap, ILAM |
Heroic song with Kipukandet, 6 string bowl lyre ((5 or 6 string pentatonic lyre used by Nandi tribe in Kenya, also known as Kibugantet and Chepkong.) This lyre is strummed like a guitar with the right hand, the left hand stopping the five strings, like the Bongwe zither of Nyasaland. This gave 2 chords. Notes 1, 3 and 5 and notes 2 and 4., The local hero Chepulon is a national legendary figure whose exploits are held up to the young men to emulate. In such ways are tribal manners and codes of behaviour instilled into the younger generation., The full recording is not available here.
